The Zarautz KE football team faces five decisive matchdays to secure its permanence in Tercera Federación, after a draw against Real Sociedad C, although their direct rivals also failed to capitalize on the situation.

It will not be an easy task to keep Zarautz KE's first football team in Tercera Federación. They were promoted to this category last season, and the architect of their promotion, Joseba Roteta, has already departed. His replacements, the duo of Asier Landa and Mikel Arregi, are not doing badly. Their debut was a 1-3 victory against Aurrera de Vitoria, and in their home debut on Holy Thursday morning, they secured a point after a goalless draw with Real Sociedad C in Asti.
A point that, once the match ended, felt insufficient, but upon learning the results of their direct rivals, it wasn't so bad. It was a shame, as a win would have been a very valuable step forward. Eibar C, Pasaia, and Santurtzi drew their matches; the latter two faced each other in a game that ended, like ours, without goals, while Zamudio and Añorga lost away from home.
The match against Real Sociedad's third reserve team once again highlighted a lack of firepower in attack. Players like Iñigo Fernández de Casadevante are recovering, but still need more games to perform at their best. Unai Alfageme remains the most incisive forward, but on this occasion, he had no luck despite trying every possible way.
Something that was appreciated in this match was the public's attendance. Perhaps due to the schedule (it was played in the morning) or perhaps because the Zarautz fans respond when needed, and the support for the players was intense with a very good turnout at Asti.
Approaches to the Donostia area were not numerous in the first half, but there were some good chances, such as a crossbar hit by Irigoien. But when the ball doesn't want to go in, it's impossible. Real C showed quality in many of its players but didn't put too much pressure on the goal defended by Erik Pereira, who intervened reliably when required.
Nevertheless, he again failed when coming out to clear with his fists, and in the second half, a miscalculation allowed the Donostia team to score, although the goal was disallowed. In that second half, they came close to scoring again, but the opponent also had their chances, so the draw can be classified as fair. Surely neither coach liked that result, but it is what it is: one point for each team.
Currently, Zarautz is second to last with 26 points, only ahead of Deusto (21) and two points behind Eibar C, who has 28. Zamudio has 29, Añorga has 30, and Santurtzi and Pasaia have 32. There are five matchdays left to finish the league, meaning 15 possible points, which gives options to everyone. Zarautz travels this Saturday to the Alava capital, where they won two matchdays ago against Aurrera. Now they play against Deportivo Alavés C starting at 5:30 PM at J.L. Compañon 4.
Then another final will arrive in Asti, where they will host Santurtzi, followed by two away matches: first against Touring, who are second and vying for the promotion play-off, and then at Zamudio's home, another final. The competition will conclude in Asti against Iker Muniain's Derio. Zamudio and Pasaia play each other, Eibar hosts San Ignacio, Añorga hosts Portugalete, and Santurtzi hosts Real C. But everything depends on winning in Gasteiz.
