Deportivo Alavés is already preparing for its next league commitment, which will take place this Saturday, April 6, at 2:00 PM in Anoeta, against Real Sociedad. The txuri-urdin team has been on a strong run since Pellegrino Matarazzo took over as coach.
The San Sebastian side recently defeated Levante in a match where Jon Martín played a dual role. First, he scored his first goal for Real's first team by heading in a corner from Carlos Soler, securing a 1-0 lead. Later, however, he received his fifth yellow card of the season and will miss Saturday's match against Alavés due to suspension.
Setting up the central defense for the match against the Vitoria team will be a minor problem for the American coach. In addition to Jon Martín's absence, Igor Zubeldia's physical issues also cast doubt on his participation in the Copa final against Atlético de Madrid on April 18.
Given that Jon Gorrotxategi also has some discomfort, and has occasionally played as a central defender during his career, it seems likely that Aritz Elustondo will complete the central defense alongside Duje Caleta-Car. The latter was substituted against Levante due to cramps but does not have any serious injury.
If Elustondo is moved to right-back to allow Aramburu to rest before the Copa final, the other option to play as a central defender would be young Luken Beitia, one of Real's most outstanding reserve team players to date.
For Alavés, there are no suspended players for this fixture, and Quique Sánchez Flores will recover Denis Suárez, who missed the last league match against Osasuna due to suspension. The Galician has not had the expected prominence this season, although his entry at halftime in Balaídos helped change the face of the Glorioso to secure a heroic comeback against Celta.
