Azkoitia basketball player Manex Ansorregi will change teams next season, playing in the ACB, while the club's sports director Jose Luis Zubizarreta will also resign from his position.

Azkoitia-born basketball player Manex Ansorregi will not continue with Inveready Gipuzkoa Basket. This Friday, he held a press conference alongside the club's sports director from Azpeitia, Jose Luis Zubizarreta Xubi, where he announced his departure. Furthermore, it was confirmed that the Azkoitia player will compete next season in the ACB, Spain's top basketball league.
The team Ansorregi will join has not yet been revealed, although several media outlets have linked him with Bilbao Basket in recent days. Xubi emphasized that, as of today, Ansorregi has not undergone any medical examinations or signed with another club. "He has opportunities to play in the top league, but for now, nothing is finalized," he stated. Meanwhile, Xubi himself also held his final press conference today, announcing his resignation as sports director. Going forward, the Azpeitia native will serve as an advisor to the sports committee.
Ansorregi confirmed his move to the elite level and expressed his readiness for the challenge. "It's the best thing that can happen to a player, to play in the top league. I started in basketball almost by chance, and knowing that I will now have the opportunity to play in the elite is as gratifying as it is important to me; it's fulfilling a dream." The Azkoitia player also highlighted his good fortune in working with "high-level professionals." "I have worked hard in recent years, and I will approach this new opportunity with great enthusiasm. I want to seize it and give it my all. I am excited and full of hope."
Ansorregi thanked the management of Gipuzkoa Basket, as well as his teammates and coaches during his seasons in Donostia. "I have had three very good years in Donostia; I felt at home here. You have helped me grow and improve as a person and a player. I hope everything goes well in Donostia. I will follow the team closely; I will carry it in my heart," he declared. Additionally, the player also expressed his gratitude to the Iraurgi Saskibaloia club, with whom he debuted in the First FEB League under ISB.
