In the early hours of Monday, a man was arrested in a hospitality establishment in central San Sebastián for threatening a worker with a blank-firing pistol. The events unfolded after midnight when a customer inside the venue began causing problems, leading an employee to ask him to leave.
According to the Security Department of the Basque Government, moments later, the man returned and, from a service window, pointed a pistol at the worker from a short distance to his face. The employee managed to take refuge inside until police resources arrived.
A patrol from the Ertzaintza arrived at the scene, subdued the man, and after securing the weapon, officers confirmed it was a blank-firing pistol. Consequently, the man was arrested on charges of threatening with a simulated firearm.
The 48-year-old man, of Maghrebi origin, was taken to police facilities for the relevant proceedings and will subsequently be brought before judicial authorities.
