The added value of industrial activity in Gipuzkoa grew by 3.2% in 2024 compared to the previous year, and worker productivity reached 80,236 euros, according to the latest data released yesterday by the Basque Statistics Institute Eustat.

These positive figures provide a solid foundation for the territory's industry to face the numerous challenges arising from the turbulent international scenario, whose negative influence is already evident in the 1% drop in industrial production during the first two months of the year. Without strong foundations based on added value, productivity, and turnover, the situation could have been more adverse.
Regarding added value, Gipuzkoa's industrial activity registered a 3.2% growth in 2024, reaching 6.455 million euros. The regions with the highest increase in this index were Debabarrena, with 7%, and Goierri, with 5.6%. In general, all regions saw this index rise, with the sole exception of Donostialdea, where industrial added value decreased by 1.1 percentage points. Gipuzkoa is above the Basque average, where added value increased by 1% on average.
Labor productivity in the territory is also, on average, above the Basque Autonomous Community, standing at 80,236 euros compared to 79,776 euros for Euskadi, where the advance was 0.4%. In this section, Goierri stands out as the second Basque region with the highest productivity, at 90,152 euros, only surpassed by Estribaciones del Gorbea in Bizkaia. According to information provided by Eustat, Tolosaldea also excels in labor productivity, with 85,517 euros, while Debabarrena is the Gipuzkoan region with the largest increase in this index, by 7.5 percentage points.
Concerning the net income of Gipuzkoa's industrial companies in 2024, their evolution was also positive, reaching 20.479 million euros, which means exceeding the figure achieved in the previous year by 1.2%. Once again, Goierri, a predominantly industrial area, appears as one of the regions with the highest growth, at 1.9%, followed by Tolosaldea, where the business volume increased by 1.7%. At the opposite pole is Urola Kosta, where the decline almost reached three percentage points. However, this positive evolution is not reflected in the same way in industrial employment, which in Gipuzkoa fell slightly by 0.1% in 2024, a behavior contrary to that recorded in Goierri and Tolosaldea, where it increased by 1.9% and 1.4% respectively.
