One of the primary challenges for companies in Gipuzkoa is the accelerated development of innovative technological solution prototypes, enabling their swift integration into daily operations. To support them in this endeavor, the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council has announced a new edition of the BerriTEK+ program, allocating two million euros.
As explained by the provincial department of Economic Promotion and Strategic Projects, the program is specifically aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which are predominant in the territory. These businesses often face greater difficulties in navigating the numerous steps between the design of an innovation and its final application under real-world conditions.
Many of these companies find their capabilities stretched when it comes to financing trials, obtaining certifications, validating in operational environments, or adapting these innovative solutions to the market. The provincial entity has identified this issue and, through BerriTEK+, aims to support them in this process, helping them overcome these challenges and translate theory into practice, thereby strengthening their position in their respective markets.
“"Technological innovation is a key factor for competitiveness today. This program facilitates the effective application of innovative solutions, ensuring that this innovation translates into growth, quality employment, and new opportunities for Gipuzkoa."
The program is divided into two main lines of action. The first focuses on the development of new technology-based products and services intended for the market. The second, meanwhile, is dedicated to the implementation and validation of advanced technologies in processes that are in the final stages of development.
The aid will concentrate on supporting the validation and demonstration of technologies in real environments, on the one hand, and on fostering the definition of technological strategies and roadmaps for industrial SMEs, on the other. In this way, the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council is confident that SMEs will gain a differentiating element to respond to market challenges.
