Informa D&B, a business consultancy and subsidiary of Cesce, reported that Gipuzkoa registered a total of six bankruptcies and 39 business dissolutions in the first quarter of the year. The construction and real estate activities sector bore the brunt of these procedures, accounting for a significant portion.
Specifically, three of the six bankruptcies recorded in the Gipuzkoan territory belonged to this sector. The hospitality sector saw two bankruptcies, while the remaining one was in industry. This latter sector is closely monitored by Basque institutions, which have activated various mechanisms to protect it, considering it a key component of both the Gipuzkoan and Basque economies.
Regarding business dissolutions, out of the 39 recorded, six were in construction and real estate activities. However, in this category, commerce surpassed it, with eleven businesses dissolved. Transport and financial intermediation each accounted for five dissolutions. In the first quarter, Gipuzkoa also saw four dissolutions in industry, three in business services, and two each in hospitality and communications. Education closed the list with a single dissolution.
Furthermore, the D&B report indicated that a restructuring plan was presented in Gipuzkoa within the transport sector, and two special procedures for micro-enterprises were initiated in construction and real estate activities, as well as in business services.
