The maximum temperatures of 29 degrees recorded this Friday in inland municipalities of Gipuzkoa were the last vestiges of summer weather until Monday. This Saturday, according to forecasts from meteorological agencies Aemet and Euskalmet, a rainy front will arrive in the territory and will not depart until the beginning of next week, leaving maximum temperatures of 17 degrees on the coast and 16 degrees inland.

Although rain will be present from early morning, the Basque Meteorology Agency (Euskalmet) specifies that «the bulk of the precipitation will arrive during the second half of the day». Specialized portals are more specific, assuring that showers will intensify from 3:00 PM. At that time, as meteorological forecasts anticipate, 1.3 liters per square meter could fall inland, while on the coast this amount would be reduced to around 1.1 liters per square meter.

This Saturday's rains will intensify as the afternoon progresses and the wind changes direction from west to northwest. Thus, from 5:00 PM, the accumulated rainfall will reach 3.6 liters per square meter both inland and on the coast, which, while not a large quantity, represents a radical change from what has been experienced during this Easter week.

As the afternoon advances and showers gain intensity, maximum temperatures will also decrease. Thus, and according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), while maximums in Zarautz during the first part of the day will be 15º, from 5:00 PM peak temperatures will drop to 9º. In inland municipalities such as Zumarraga or Arrasate, the prediction is similar, with maximums around 13 degrees in the morning and 7 degrees in the afternoon.

On Sunday, the weather situation will be similar. During the morning, it may remain dry, and the wind will blow from the west-southwest. However, during the second half of the day, another front will arrive in Gipuzkoa, bringing stronger winds from the northwest. Showers will intensify from 3:00 PM, although they will leave less rainfall than the previous day.

The biggest difference will be in temperatures, as the mercury will register values more typical of winter than spring. In coastal municipalities like Zumaia or Irun, maximums will drop to 14 degrees and minimums to 7º. It is worth noting that Aemet has activated a warning for waves of up to five meters on the Gipuzkoan coast for this Sunday. In inland towns such as Lazkao or Eibar, maximums will reach 13 degrees, and minimums could drop to 6 degrees.
