Pelotari Unai Alberdi has secured his spot in the B Series semifinals after defeating fellow townsman Julen Egiguren 10-22 in a hard-fought match at the Igarondo fronton in Idiazabal.

Yesterday, the Igarondo fronton in Idiazabal hosted a crucial encounter between two pelotaris from Azpeitia: Julen Egiguren and Unai Alberdi, battling for a ticket to the B Series semifinals. Egiguren had a slight advantage, needing only 16 points to advance, while Alberdi had to score 22 points before Egiguren reached 15.
However, Alberdi entered the court with a clear winning attitude from the very first second, quickly establishing a 0-6 lead after just six shots. He left Egiguren with almost no opportunities, and after 176 shots and a match lasting three-quarters of an hour, he emerged victorious with a 10-22 score. With this win, Alberdi not only secured his place in the semifinals but will also advance as the group leader of Group A, alongside Rekalde.
Meanwhile, in Group B, Amiano has already secured his passage to the next phase. The second qualifier will be decided on Friday in Iurreta, in the match between Murua and Zubizarreta III. Alberdi will face the winner of that match in the semifinals, which will take place on May 15 at the Uranzu fronton in Irun.
