According to the jeltzale party, the Karrantza Town Council is spending increasing amounts on tourism, yet the results are worsening. During the previous PNV administration, Pozalagua reportedly attracted around 45,000 annual visitors, a figure that has now approximately halved.
They are taking measures that we do not understand and that they do not explain to us, such as raising the entrance price to Pozalagua cave from seven to ten euros or reducing some visit slots, measures that we believe directly contribute to the fall in visitors.
The PNV emphasizes that these actions, including the price increase and reduced tour slots, are key factors in the decline of visitors. Furthermore, they accuse Karrantza Zabala of “political inconsistency,” noting that despite advocating against the outsourcing of public services, they privatized tourism management immediately upon taking office.
In the PNV's view, the issue is not financial but strategic, as the Town Council has failed to lead a tourism policy that considers all stakeholders. This has direct consequences for the local economy, particularly for the hospitality and commercial sectors. They are therefore calling for “a more thoroughly studied investment”.
