Horkasitas Palace in Balmaseda will become the epicenter of wine this weekend, April 18th and 19th, with the second edition of Wine Identity, gathering European wineries, enologists, and sommeliers.

This initiative will offer a wide selection of wines, ranging from consolidated appellations of origin—such as Rioja, Ribera del Duero, Bierzo, or Marco de Jerez—to internationally renowned proposals. According to the organizers, attendees will be able to explore the elegance of wines from Piedmont and Tuscany, discover the versatility of the chardonnay grape in regions like Chablis and Mâcon, or delve into the uniqueness of albariza wines, without overlooking the txakoli tradition of Enkarterri.
Admission to Horkasitas Palace is free, allowing the general public to access the venue, learn firsthand about the work of participating wineries, and purchase bottles directly in the designated sales area. Additionally, those interested can buy a ticket booklet for 10 euros, which includes a crystal glass and vouchers for tastings at the various exhibitors.

"Enkarterri and Balmaseda have become a benchmark for gastronomic tourism thanks to the dedication and effort of our local producers and hospitality sector."

Wine Identity strengthens its educational aspect in this edition with a program aimed at both professionals and enthusiasts. Scheduled activities include guided tastings, priced at 8 euros, with expert-led tours focusing on topics such as the world of Champagne or the work of artisan vignerons. Reservations can be made through the Visit Enkarterri website.
The festival also features free-access meetings and presentations centered on current issues in the wine sector, such as the identity of vineyards in Rioja Alavesa or the rise of alcohol-free and low-alcohol wines. The program will conclude with a round table discussion on the future challenges of the sector, with participation from representatives of hospitality, distribution, and production.
