This morning's Zaldibiako Mountain Race was affected by changing weather, but despite this, the event concluded in a very positive atmosphere.

The VII edition of the Zaldibiako Mountain Race, held this morning, experienced variable weather conditions, but this did not prevent a large turnout and a great atmosphere in both races. Organizers announced changes the previous night, which led to the participants of the long race having to complete a shorter route, avoiding the ascent to the upper peaks of Aralar. The original course was 28 kilometers with a positive elevation gain of 1,950 meters.
The long race started at 9:30 AM. In the men's category, the winner was Jokin Etxabe from Bergara, who took 2 hours, 4 minutes, and 31 seconds to cross the finish line. In the women's category, the victory went to Catalan runner Claudia Sarrate, with a time of 2 hours, 35 minutes, and 7 seconds. The women's podium was completed by Maider Unanue from Aramayona in third place.
The short race, on the other hand, began from the town square at 10:00 AM. This course covered 15 kilometers with a positive elevation gain of 1,000 meters, involving an out-and-back route from Zaldibia's main square to Ausa Gaztelu. In the men's category, Aimar Larrea from Antzuola was the winner, followed by Ibon Badiola from Ondarroa and Iker Agirregabiria from Aretxabaleta. In the women's category, Lola Oiarzabal from Vitoria-Gasteiz was the fastest, with Intza Urrestarazu from Ordizia and Barbara Ceballos from Galicia completing the podium.
