Oikia has commenced its San Bartolomé Day celebrations, with events scheduled to continue until next Friday. Today marks the main day in the neighborhood, with the program kicking off with a solemn mass. Following this, members of the Errotaberri bertso school will present a performance. In the afternoon, there will be an opportunity to watch donkey races, and to round off the day, the Elustondo siblings will perform a romería.
Yesterday also offered reasons for celebration in the neighborhood. In the afternoon, for instance, a special festival of traditional Basque sports (herri kirolak) took over the main square. While Olaia and Lorea Esnaola were engaged in stone-lifting (harrijasotzen), the pairs Mujika-Bihurri and Kortxero-Mugertza competed in a wood-chopping challenge (aizkora). Subsequently, there was an opportunity to witness ox races (idi probak), presented by Etxabe and Bixki.
Today's schedule includes: at 11:00 AM, mass; at 12:30 PM, a performance by Errotaberri Bertso Eskola; at 6:00 PM, the XXXVI. Donkey Races (featuring participants like Artabilla, Peio, Muniosoro, Bentuene); and at 10:30 PM, a romería with the Elustondo siblings.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, will feature inflatable attractions for children of various ages (11:00 AM - 2:00 PM), a children's lunch (2:00 PM), the XVIII. Karrikotxe descent (3:30 PM), areas with diverse activities (water games, crafts, skill challenges, photo booth), hot chocolate, a communal dinner in the square (bring your own food) and karaoke (8:30 PM), and the V. Zokormazo dinner (9:00 PM).
On Friday, August 28th, San Agustín Day and Blusa Day will be celebrated. The program includes: at 11:00 AM, mass; at 12:00 PM, traditional Basque sports among citizens; throughout the morning, trikitixa players Enaitz Alberdi and Erkizi; at 2:30 PM, a paella lunch; bingo after lunch; a children's corner hosted by GUKA (5:00 PM); Auxtinpotin in the afternoon; a romería with trikitixa players Izer and Alabier (10:30 PM); and the popular Txin-txin at midnight.
