The singer-songwriter from Errenteria, Mikel Markez, will present his fourteenth album, titled Gezurrari zor, at the Zaldibar theater this Sunday at 7:00 PM, the culmination of two years of work.

This new album features nine songs in which Markez uses “humor and irony” to propose reflections on issues of concern in contemporary society. To achieve this, he has created nine verse melodies and compiled stanzas from several renowned bertsolaris, including Ane Labaka, Alaia Martin, Andoni Egaña, Beñat Gaztelumendi, Jon Maia, Jon Sarasua, Oihana Arana, Odei Barroso, and Xabier Amuriza.
In terms of sound, he has collaborated with musicians Arkaitz Miner, Iker Lauroba, and Iñigo Mantzizidor, with vocals provided by Esti Markez, Maddalen Arzallus, Xabi Sukia, and Eneritz Aulestia. Markez stated that he enjoyed the album's creation process, as each verse stanza presented different demands, which enriched the work.

"It was different with each verse stanza, precisely because each one asked for something distinct. Generally, we first agreed on the theme and meter, and then we started working, the bertsolari on their side and I on mine. Once we reached a midpoint, we refined the work; sometimes the melody remained as it was, but in other cases, I had to adapt the melodies."

Markez emphasized that the album's presentation concerts have gone “very well” and are proving to be “special.” Each concert features a guest bertsolari, giving personality and uniqueness to each session. In the Eskoriatza performance, bertsolari Oihana Arana will participate and offer explanations about the stanza she wrote. Markez indicated that, although he was familiar with Arana's work, they had not met personally, but she seemed the ideal person to reflect on youth and the future.
