Singer-songwriter Mikel Markez presented his album Gezurrari zor in Eskoriatza, featuring songs with lyrics by well-known bertsolaris, exploring the concept of lies and the future of young people.

Singer-songwriter Mikel Markez has presented his latest musical work, Gezurrari zor, at the Zaldibar aretoa in Eskoriatza. This album compiles lyrics from renowned bertsolaris, who have developed texts around the concept of a lie. Among the participating bertsolaris are Ane Labaka, Alaia Martin, Andoni Egaña, Beñat Gaztelumendi, Jon Maia, Jon Sarasua, Xabier Amuriza, Odei Barroso, and Oihana Arana.
As Markez himself explained, he asked each bertsolari to work on a text about a lie. For bertsolari Oihana Arana, for example, he proposed the theme “the future is in the hands of young people.” Before performing that song, Markez detailed the elements used, opting to write coplas because “for big things, short answers are usually what work best.”

"I opted to write coplas, because for big things, short answers are usually what work best. Also, old coplas have something very interesting, which is that they are often related to nature and landscape. When I think about young people, urban landscapes come to mind."

With an ironic and suggestive tone, the first five verses of the song describe the current problems faced by young people. The last three, meanwhile, are filled with rhetorical questions, aimed at “those who utter such phrases.” The catchy chorus of the song encouraged the audience to sing along, creating a pleasant atmosphere.
