Comprised of double bassists Noèlia Grau, Enara Susano, and Uxue Sansiñena, Bassadonna will offer a performance titled "Un viaje sonoro a través del tiempo" (A Sound Journey Through Time). The concert aims to highlight the versatility of the double bass, moving beyond its traditional role at the back of the orchestra.
The program spans various musical eras and styles, featuring works by composers such as Michał Bylina, Henry Purcell, Francis Poulenc, Bolesław Poradowski, Antonín Dvořák, Mark Montgomery, Teppo Hauta-aho, Béla Bartók, and Tony Osborne. Pieces include Suite in the Olden Style nº 1, Trío Sonata en la menor, Three Impressions, Trío Poem Basso II, and selections from Bass Clef Trios, Book 2.
This all-female ensemble, with strong ties to the Basque musical scene, emphasizes the contrabass's capacity to create its own sonic universe, blending depth, energy, and virtuosity. The event is part of the 25th edition of the cycle, themed "Arquitecturas Insólitas" (Unusual Architectures), encouraging a shift in perspective.
Noèlia Grau studied in Salamanca and Musikene. Enara Susano, a Vitoria-Gasteiz native, has extensive international orchestral experience and teaches at the Higher Conservatory of Music of Navarra. Uxue Sansiñena, the youngest member, has participated in international projects and is a double bass professor at the Municipal Conservatory of Irún.
Tickets are priced at 7 euros and available via Entradium. Students under 30 and the unemployed can attend for free.
