A dozen people set out yesterday morning from the Oxford hall with brushes and canvases, ready to participate in the outdoor painting competition. They had a few hours to paint the landscape or building they envisioned in a corner of the town. They had to present the final result at noon, in the same place where the competition began.
The artwork by Jokin Tellería won the first prize, worth 900 euros. Tellería depicted the Inpernupeko cove in his work, a landscape painted from below Talaimendi. The award for the best local artist, worth 300 euros, went to María Isabel Aizpurua, who painted the rear of the Town Hall, specifically the Harategi passage and its adjacent arch.
The second prize was awarded to the work of Josue García, which depicted the flysch. In third place was Eneko Arruza, thanks to his painting of the Balenciaga shipyard.
Young participants also had the opportunity to enter the competition, and the jury selected two works from all submissions: the children's prize was won by Enara Dublange, and the youth prize by Aiora Arruza. Both received gifts from the store Pinturas Rubio.
“"It has been a difficult task this year, as the participants have shown a high level."
The jury this year was composed of Rosa Ruiz, Mireia Lizundia, Udane Juaristi, Valentin Manterola, Josean Legorburu, Francisco Hernandez, and Marina Bidasoro. As they acknowledged at the awards ceremony, they had a difficult task due to the high level of the participants.
From today until the 14th of this month, all the works submitted to the competition will be exhibited at the Oxford hall.
