Geurea Rugby Team, formed by players from Arrasate, Elorrio, and Zornotza, will compete in its first-ever final this Saturday afternoon at the Asti sports center in Zarautz. The clubs have organized buses to facilitate fan travel, and Arrasate player Irene Dolara assures there will be no shortage of support. Supporters from the three towns will cheer as one team against the formidable Gaztedi from Gasteiz.
Their opponents, Gaztedi, are the strongest team in the category and have already secured promotion to the Honor Division. "They have won all league matches, including the two we played against them," stated Dolara. In the first leg in Arrasate, the score was 10-17 after a competitive match, while in the return game in Gasteiz, the home team won more decisively. "We know they are the favorites, but that doesn't concern us. We feel we have already achieved our goal and will play without pressure, giving our all," she added.
The team includes seven players from Arrasate, and it's common for them to join forces with players from other towns to form the squad for the league. "Behind Geurea are Zornotza, Elorrio, and Arrasate. We united three towns and started working with great enthusiasm. Throughout the season, we've shown we are truly a team, both on and off the field," explained Dolara, emphasizing their strong relationship.
They secured their spot in the final last Saturday in Arrasate in front of their home crowd, defeating La Unica 37-10. Despite the strength of the Navarrese team, coach Zabala's squad took the initiative with the ball and gained control of the match. Now, the challenge is to cap off the season in Zarautz.
