The streets of Garai will burst with color and vitality this Sunday, April 19, as the town celebrates its XII Plant and Gardening Fair. This event, jointly organized by the Garai Town Council and the Urkiola Rural Development Association, will take place from 10:00 to 15:00, in its usual friendly and vibrant atmosphere. It will be held in the main square if the weather permits, or in the fronton (pelota court) if it rains.
This year, twelve gardening nurseries will showcase a wide variety of plants, including ornamental species, fruit trees, cacti, carnivorous plants, and organic seeds for vegetable gardens. Additionally, visitors can purchase gardening tools, traditional farm implements, and artisanal crafts that combine wood and flowers. Producers will also offer technical advice to buyers.
Beyond plants, local farm products from Durangaldea will also have a significant presence at the fair. Local producers will sell cheese, bread, sweets, preserves, and craft beer, among other items. Furthermore, a food stall will be set up, offering talos (traditional Basque flatbreads) and drinks made with local ingredients.
For the convenience of visitors, the Garai senior citizens' association will manage a cloakroom or consignment service. This will allow fair-goers to leave their purchases and explore the fair more comfortably. Among those who use this service, a basket of products from the Etartie store will be raffled.
The Garai Town Council and the Urkiola Rural Development Association have extended an invitation to all citizens to enjoy the fair's atmosphere, and have expressed their gratitude to all the volunteers and work teams who make this initiative possible.
