The lifeless body of a 78-year-old man was found this Monday in the Ibaizabal River as it passes through Iurreta. According to sources from the Department of Security, a citizen spotted the corpse floating in the riverbed near the Padureta housing complex.
The alert was received at 8:20 AM. Patrols from the Ertzaintza and healthcare teams were dispatched to the scene and confirmed the man's death.
Subsequently, the body was transported for an autopsy, which will determine the causes of death. The regional police force has also launched an investigation to clarify the origin of the incident.
