Durango Sees Significant Increase in Tourist Inquiries and Services During Easter Week

The town recorded a 17.6% rise in tourist inquiries, with the Kurutzesantu Museum and the Basilica of Santa María de Uribarri being major attractions.

The town of Durango experienced a significant surge in its tourism activity during the recent Easter Week, with a total of 227 inquiries handled, marking a 17.6% increase compared to the previous year.

The municipal tourism office managed 227 inquiries, 34 more than the previous year. During the Easter period, April 3rd saw the highest influx of visitors, with 87 inquiries, followed by April 5th with 57.
A sociodemographic analysis of the inquiries indicates a higher presence of women (56.83%) compared to men (43.17%). Regarding age groups, adults clearly predominated, accounting for 90.75% of inquiries, while the participation of children, young people, and seniors was notably lower.
In terms of visitor origin, the largest volume came from other parts of the country (39.65%), followed by visitors from Euskadi (34.36%) and abroad (13.22%).
Regarding tourist services, a total of 174 provisions were recorded. The Kurutzesantu Museum attracted the highest number with 87 visits, followed by audio guides and guided tours. Additionally, during this period, the exhibition 'Mendigozaleak bakean, gudariak gerran; gudariak bataloiak' was open, enhancing the municipality's cultural offerings.
Furthermore, two tours were conducted through the medieval town and two visits to the Basilica of Santa María, one of the largest in Europe. The year-on-year evolution reflects a positive trend in tourism activity, with a 11.5% increase in services provided.
