The municipal market in Durango has undergone a significant revitalization following its renovation, with traders now focusing on educating younger generations about the value of local products, supported by a voucher campaign to stimulate the local economy.
The once desolate appearance of Durango's municipal market is a thing of the past. This old town building, dating back to 1927, has entered a new era after its rehabilitation. Now, many residents visit daily to buy from stalls offering butchery, pickles, charcuterie, a cafeteria, and zero-kilometer products.

"It is the heart of the town; we must take care of it and teach young people the value of local products."
Merchants note that despite a slight dip in recent weeks due to Easter holidays and the May long weekend, the revitalization of the space has provided a "very significant" boost. The market now has a fresh atmosphere, attracting more people, and includes benches and tables for seating. Saturday is one of the most important days, as farmers and numerous customers of various ages visit.
Furthermore, with the aim of promoting the local economy and strengthening the municipal commercial fabric, the Durango City Council, in collaboration with the Dendak Bai association, has launched a new edition of its trade voucher campaign. This initiative will be active until June 6, inclusive.
Through this campaign, vouchers priced at 10 euros will be offered, allowing purchases worth 15 euros at participating businesses. A total of 10,000 vouchers will be distributed and can be acquired via the online platform bonoa.durango.eus, where interested parties can consult the list of participating establishments. From today until May 8, from 10:00 to 12:30, only individuals over 65 years old can purchase them; for the remainder of the campaign, all individuals can buy them from Tuesday to Sunday at the Tourism Office, from 10:00 to 14:30.

"This spring campaign aims to boost small local businesses. We encourage all citizens to acquire the vouchers and consume within the municipality, as it is a direct way to support our local economy. Additionally, each person benefits from the discount, so everyone wins."
