To commemorate the renowned Getaria native who completed the first circumnavigation, the Elkano Fishermen's Guild organized an event. On board a vessel, members of the Salbatore Choir sailed out, casting flowers into the water and remembering sailors connected to the sea in prayer.
The catamaran circled Mount San Antón before returning to the port to conclude the ceremony. There, they sang 'Agur Jaunak'.
This offering was not made by a single boat; other local vessels surrounded the catamaran, and a Civil Guard ship was also present, participating in the tribute to the late Juan Sebastián Elcano.
