The men's athletics team from Durango Kirol Taldea (DKT) will continue in the First Division for the sixth consecutive year. Only the Honor Division is above them.
The DKT athletes concluded the final competition held on Saturday in Durango amidst the rain, not only to combat the stifling heat but also to celebrate their success. Thanks to the work done in previous rounds, DKT had secured their place, but they needed to finalize the task, which they did.
For instance, Asier del Arco won the 1,500-meter race, and athletes such as Eneko Lambarri, Cherif Coly, Raul Santamaria, and Pablo Martinez de Guereñu performed as expected in their respective disciplines.
The performance of Unax Solabarrieta also deserves mention. Despite getting injured in the 4x100-meter relay, he also participated in the 4x400, enduring pain. DKT did not need that point to maintain their division status, but it helped them finish the home competition outside the bottom two positions.
Ultimately, the teams from Portugalete and Naron will be relegated.
