The Amorebieta-Etxano City Council has released a new publication titled “Ongi etorri mundura, txiki!”. The initiative aims to support families with newborns and children aged 0 to 3, offering resources to naturally and closely integrate Euskera into daily life.
Ainhoa Salterain Gandariasek, the Mayor of Amorebieta-Etxano, highlighted that "the arrival of a child marks the beginning of a new phase filled with learning, discoveries, and shared moments. From the City Council, we want to support families on this journey by providing resources that help them approach Euskera naturally, stemming from love and everyday experiences."
The publication includes advice, games, songs, and various resources designed to help families easily incorporate Euskera into their daily routines. It is intended for all families, whether they already use Euskera or are taking their first steps in the language.
“Euskera is part of our identity, and we want new generations to experience it from their very first days: at home, in the street, through games, songs, and small daily moments. This book was created with that goal: to be an accessible tool for all families in Zornotza, regardless of their current linguistic reality,” the mayor added.
Alongside the printed edition, a dedicated section will be launched on the municipal website. This section will feature the book's content and additional resources. The publication is available in multiple versions: Euskera-Spanish, Euskera-Romanian, and Euskera-Arabic, to accommodate the diversity of families in the municipality.
The official presentation of the book to families will take place on Friday, September 25th, at 5:30 PM in Zelaieta. During the event, the mayor will present the book, followed by a performance by the group Kontu Kantari featuring songs from the publication. The City Council will distribute approximately 350 books to children aged 0 to 3 in this initial distribution, and it will continue to be offered to families of new babies born in the municipality.
