Following information disseminated by EH Bildu and Elkarrekin Podemos regarding Marilu's situation, the City Council wishes to reaffirm its support. This situation arose after the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, the authority responsible for allocating places in day centers, proposed transferring Marilu to the day center for the elderly located at the Nafarroa Center in Amorebieta-Etxano.
The City Council clarifies that the regulation of day centers and the allocation of places for both people with disabilities and the elderly is the responsibility of the Provincial Council of Bizkaia. Consequently, the Amorebieta-Etxano City Council does not make decisions regarding the assignment or change of these places.
The City Council's Social Action department has been in constant contact with the family, representatives of all municipal political groups, and members of the General Assemblies of Bizkaia from the outset, to analyze the situation and seek the best possible solution for Marilu.
Currently, a working group within the General Assemblies of Bizkaia is analyzing this case, and the conclusions of this study are expected to be released in September. The Provincial Council of Bizkaia has proposed keeping Marilu at the Nafarroa Center day center for the elderly in Amorebieta-Etxano, and the City Council commits to supporting the process through an adapted transition, ensuring Marilu's needs are maximally safeguarded.
The Amorebieta-Etxano City Council understands the family's concern but deems it necessary to provide accurate and complete information. The Council's commitment is and always will be to support Marilu and her family, collaborate with the competent institutions, and work towards making any decision that guarantees the best possible care for Marilu.
