The Pasaia City Council has undertaken various tree renovation and planting efforts in recent weeks across all four districts of the municipality, aiming to improve safety and environmental quality in public spaces.

These actions have involved both the removal of trees in poor condition and the planting of new species better suited to each urban environment. According to the City Council, the works are based on technical criteria related to tree health, risk prevention (such as falling branches or trees affected by diseases or storms), and the enhancement of local biodiversity. Furthermore, new trees have been planted in areas where none previously existed, thereby expanding the municipality's green coverage.
The interventions have been distributed by district. In San Pedro, a new planting has been carried out in Torreatze, while at the roundabout entrance to the neighborhood, two unhealthy trees, affected by fungi and at risk of shedding branches, have been removed and replaced with new specimens. Similarly, near Botero, an infected pear tree was removed and replaced with a new tree. Finally, in Esnabide, four dry lime trees have been removed and new trees planted.
Most interventions have focused on Trintxerpe, particularly in Andonaegi square. Here, one tree had been broken by the wind, and three others were causing damage to the pavement due to root growth. As these beeches were unsuitable for the space, all four were removed and replaced with new trees of the species Cercis siliquastrum, known as the Judas tree. Actions also took place in the La Herrera area, where several damaged or dry trees, including one felled by the wind, were replaced, while in Arrandegi, a plane tree in poor condition was substituted. On Ulia street, several interventions occurred: two new trees were planted near the elevator slope, and in the vicinity of Mendiola Azpia, a dry specimen was removed and a new one installed. Additionally, on the priests' path, behind Karmengo Ama, a large, almost dry pine tree was removed and replaced with a red beech.
In Donibane, four new trees have been planted in the gardens surrounding the San Roque elevator, reinforcing the presence of green areas in this urban setting. To conclude, in Antxo, a dry camellia was replaced in Hamarretxeta, and on Zumalakarregi street, an unhealthy mulberry tree was removed to plant another specimen in its place.
