The Pasaia Kayak club has achieved another significant success in its most celebrated discipline, sea kayaking, by winning a gold medal at the II Spanish Sea Kayak Cup. The competition took place in Cuitadella, at the Moll de la Trena in Menorca, where paddler Roland Lebeau demonstrated exceptional skill.
Lebeau, who has been representing Pasaia for several seasons, claimed the gold in his veterans' segment with absolute dominance. He completed the 13-kilometer course in 1h:03m:42s, maintaining a comfortable lead of over eight minutes. The race conditions were favorable, with light wind, sunshine, and some waves on the downwind section.
Notably, his teammate Ramón Vega also delivered a strong performance, finishing in a commendable fifth place, just over two minutes behind the podium. This result further solidifies Pasaia Kayak's strong presence in national competitions, marking their second gold medal in the two Spanish Cups held so far.
In other news, the Alonso siblings also performed well at the Spanish Half Marathon Championship for calm waters, held in Aranjuez. Oinatz secured a respectable ninth place in the junior category during his debut, while Ioar competed in the U23 category, aiming for improved results in future events.
The club's activities continue without pause, as Pasaia paddlers are now preparing for the Cantabria Open Sea Kayak Championship. This event, scheduled for this weekend in Santander, is gaining increasing prominence in the national calendar and is expected to attract a large number of participants.
