The Lasarte-Oria City Council has presented this week the Lasarte-Oria Rural Kutxa BTT 2026 cross-country event, a consolidated fixture in the Gipuzkoa sports calendar, scheduled for next Sunday, April 19.

This event will once again gather hundreds of participants for a day that combines sport, nature, and local economic revitalization. During the presentation, the sustained growth of the event in recent years was highlighted, both in terms of participant numbers and its social and economic impact on the municipality.
The event maintains its inclusive nature, allowing participation with both conventional and electric bicycles, and offering routes adapted to different skill levels, which broadens its appeal to diverse profiles of mountain biking enthusiasts.
The start and finish lines will be located around Askatasuna Square, from where the race will commence at 9:00 AM. The various routes will allow both beginners and experienced riders to enjoy a course that traverses the natural surroundings of the municipality and its vicinity, solidifying the event's reputation as a benchmark in popular cycling.
The City Council actively participates in the organization through the Sports Department and also as a sponsor via the Tratu On Bat brand, promoted by the Socioeconomics Department. This initiative aims to strengthen Lasarte-Oria's projection as a regional leader in commerce, hospitality, and services, leveraging the visibility generated by an event of this nature.
The Council has emphasized the positive impact that these types of events have on local economic activity, by attracting visitors and generating movement in sectors such as hospitality and commerce. In this regard, the importance of continuing to support sports events that contribute to the municipality's development has been highlighted.
For its part, the organization has noted the high level of interest generated by the event, with registrations sold out weeks before its celebration, which demonstrates its consolidation in the calendar. Regarding traffic impact, the Municipal Police, in coordination with the organization, has established a specific protocol to minimize incidents and ensure smooth traffic flow. Although no major disruptions are expected, citizens are advised to plan their usual commutes in advance.
The press conference was attended by the Councillor for Sports, Goizalde Pildain Narvarte, and the Councillor for Socioeconomics, Nuria Fernández Castrillo, along with representatives from the organizing and sponsoring entities. Among them were Marta Ibargoyen and Amets González-Txabarri, representing Rural Kutxa; Aitor Alzugaray, from Transportes Echemar; and Martín Alzugaray, on behalf of Fly Actions, an organizing entity alongside the clubs Saiatuz TKT and MX Racing.
