The Osintxu neighborhood in Bergara has a new children's playground in its square, representing the latest municipal project managed through the neighborhood revitalization platform, aimed at comprehensive area recovery.
This latest intervention addresses a community request by renewing the children's play equipment. The project, undertaken by the City Council, was largely supported by a financial contribution of 25,450 euros from the cooperative Soraluce, a member of the revitalization platform alongside the City Council and Txuringo Kultur Elkartea.
The work was carried out by the company Electro Talleres Zarauz, S.A. The initial phase involved removing old play equipment and flooring to prepare the base for the new recreational elements and safety surfacing.
The publicly tendered execution cost amounted to 28,953 euros, including VAT. The City Council, managing the process, highlighted that selection criteria for the project included 'the diversity and innovation of the proposed play activities, as well as fostering physical activity and enabling the development of socialization, imagination, and creativity.' They also emphasized the 'integration of the play area into the neighborhood's environment, considering design, colors, shapes, and materials.' Sustainability was a key factor, with '73% of the installed elements made from recycled material.' This is noted on the information panel near the castle: 'the materials used partly come from the recycling process of plastic collected in Bergara; specifically, 412 kilograms of plastic were recycled for its manufacturing.'

Osintxu Biziberritzen, the platform established in 2021 by public and private stakeholders, has recently facilitated a public investment of 500,000 euros in the peripheral district.
Municipal funds have covered an expenditure of 300,000 euros for the purchase and equipping of Txuringo, and an additional 200,000 euros from a Basque Government program to provide the Open Gela service.
The reopening of Txuringo as a hospitality venue and social hub is a crucial step for the neighborhood's recovery. Furthermore, the Open Gela neighborhood office serves as a citizen service point, offering information, guidance, and advice on rehabilitation works. Information will be provided on energy retrofitting for homes and buildings, accessibility improvements, and subsidy processing.
The ultimate goal is to enhance the neighborhood's quality of life through building modernization and increased energy efficiency, providing housing resources that can help strengthen social cohesion and sustainable development.
