The Bergara City Council has commenced the fifth phase of the Urteaga bike path this Monday, aimed at improving the final section of Urteaga street up to the industrial estate entrance. This project will extend the area's cycling network.
The works have been awarded to the company Construcciones Zubieder SL with a budget of 173,434.03 euros (VAT included). The company will have four months to complete the project.
This initiative is part of a plan to connect the end of the bike path being developed by the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council on Urteaga street with the existing cycle route. The construction will cover the stretch from the end of Urteaga street to the industrial estate entrance. The technical project was drafted by architect Xabier Zabala Urriategi.
The intervention includes various tasks such as demolitions, dismantling, adaptation of structures and pavements, installation of railings and protective elements, renovation of facilities, and painting and signage work.
Through these works, the City Council aims to continue completing and enhancing infrastructure for bicycle and pedestrian mobility, advancing the continuity of the municipal cycle network. Connecting the Urteaga area will be a significant step in the municipality's sustainable mobility network.
During the construction period, the awarded company must implement measures to minimize disruptions to pedestrian, cyclist, and vehicle traffic. Additionally, a safe passage for pedestrians will be ensured in the work area, with the necessary signage and protective elements.
