After two decades serving as a key point of contact for citizen services, the BAZ office in Arrasate is preparing for a thorough renovation. The space will shed its current layout to make way for a more modern, accessible, and efficient office, designed to improve both the citizen experience and the daily work of its staff.
The City Council has awarded the comprehensive renovation of the service to the company Zamakoa S.A. for an amount exceeding €486,100, with a four-month execution period. Additionally, the furniture, commissioned from Diseño Interiorismo Informática Oficinas S.A., totals €74,800, bringing the total investment to €560,900.
The project, covering the 272 square meters of the premises operational since 2006, seeks to address shortcomings identified over time, both in space distribution and service conditions. The intervention will allow for a complete reorganization of the BAZ, clearly differentiating the public use area from the internal zone. Upon entering the facilities, a 40 m² waiting room and a 92 m² service area will be set up, physically and acoustically separated to reduce noise and enhance privacy. Within this area, eight individualized service desks and a meeting room will be adapted.
One of the most significant changes will be the elimination of height differences between staff and users, a measure aimed at fostering more direct and egalitarian service. Furthermore, the Tactile Processing Office (OTT) will feature machines for autonomous transactions 24 hours a day, thereby facilitating citizens' access to municipal services without being dependent on in-person assistance hours.
The works also include the renovation of the climate control and ventilation systems with air recovery, which will improve the energy efficiency of the premises. Externally, however, the current image of the service will be maintained, respecting the municipal identity and the guidelines of the Special Plan for the Historic Quarter. Once the works begin, the citizen service office will temporarily relocate to number 21 Iturriotz Street, to the central premises that housed the former Eya store, to ensure the continuity of this public service.
