The PNV municipal group in Elgeta has stated that collaboration between the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa and the Basque Government has been crucial in driving investments in the municipality, bringing strategic projects to fruition.

The jeltzales have emphasized that these interventions by public institutions clearly demonstrate that when municipal interests are prioritized, real opportunities for progress emerge. This is reflected in improvements made in various areas such as mobility, the primary and secondary sectors, and cultural facilities.
Regarding mobility, they highlighted the improvement of the road between Bergara and Elgeta, with works completed at the end of March, representing an investment of approximately 225,000 euros. Furthermore, public transport services have also been enhanced, offering six additional daily services between the two towns since March 9.

"These measures facilitate the daily commutes of Elgeta residents."

According to Iker Laka, Elgeta's spokesperson, they will continue working to achieve, among other things, a direct connection to the Arrasate hospital. In the rural sector, they mentioned subsidies for access roads to farmhouses, allocating 35,000 euros in 2024 and around 29,500 euros in 2025. However, they criticized the municipal government for not submitting projects to rural development calls in recent years, which, in their opinion, highlights the need for a more proactive approach.
Economically, they stressed Elgeta's industrial character, citing as an example the project planned by the Basque Government to rehabilitate the old Forjanor pavilion of the Sidenor group. Sprilur will allocate 400,000 euros to adapt the facility. According to Laka, this action is "strategic for attracting economic activity, consolidating companies, and creating employment." At the same time, they accused the municipal government of "historical neglect" in industrial policies.
Regarding cultural facilities, they recalled investments in the Culture House, with various actions financed by the Provincial Council, such as window renovation, adaptation of the exterior traffic light, and the project for roof and facade rehabilitation.

"It is important to invest in culture, as these spaces play a fundamental role in revitalizing small municipalities."

The spokesperson emphasized that the investments made demonstrate that "by working with responsibility and a future vision, Elgeta can attract resources." Concurrently, he accused the EH Bildu municipal government of "lack of initiative" and defended that the PNV is "a driving force for useful proposals even from the opposition."

"We know that the City Council cannot undertake many investments, but today it is proven that there are programs in the Provincial Council, the Basque Government, the State, or Europe that allow them to be developed. To take advantage of this potential, courage and a collaborative attitude are needed, and in the PNV we have worked a lot on this."
