Bergara City Council has honored the company Industrias UGATU at the sixth edition of the Ekinola event. The ceremony acknowledged the company's journey of over 70 years and its capacity to adapt and innovate within the industrial sector.
Ekinola has once again served as a platform for reflection on entrepreneurship, business, and innovation. Similar to previous years, the Council aimed to highlight the trajectory of Bergara's companies and their ability to face current and future challenges. Last year, for instance, Mujika Burdindegia was honored.
Industrias UGATU's origins date back to 1955, when it began manufacturing fasteners. A year later, in 1956, it ventured into bolt manufacturing. Since then, it has forged a path of over 70 years, contributing to Bergara's industrial fabric and adapting to economic, technological, and social transformations.
Councilor Maite Usabiaga emphasized that "a company's value lies not only in its years of operation but in the demonstrated capacity to progress, transform, and innovate throughout that time."
UGATU has evolved from manufacturing to marketing and has embraced digitalization. Despite operating in a traditional sector, it has integrated e-commerce and digital customer services, now offering over 80,000 references in its online store.
Usabiaga also pointed out that industrial tradition and innovation are not contradictory: "UGATU's journey shows that years of experience and knowledge can be the foundation for adapting to new situations, innovating, and facing future challenges."
Therefore, the recognition extended beyond the company's past. The Council also sought to acknowledge its current work and future outlook, particularly as a business project that can serve as a benchmark for new generations and young people.
