The Legarre recording studios in Eibar are set to be renamed Walter Tuzzeo Sormen Zentroa, in a tribute to the musician and producer who dedicated his life to music and laid the groundwork for local musical production.
The Legarre recording studios in Eibar will henceforth be known as Walter Tuzzeo Sormen Zentroa. This new designation serves to honor a professional who devoted his life to music and established the foundations that enabled the creation of a vital space for local music production.
This recognition will take the form of a tribute ceremony held at the recording studios themselves, this Saturday, April 11, at 11:00 AM. During the event, a commemorative plaque will be unveiled in memory of Tuzzeo, a Sicilian who was brought to Eibar by life and love, and where he lived until his passing in 2024.
“
"This recognition is an act of justice for someone who understood culture as a space for encounter and collective growth. Walter not only worked with sound but also cared for people and made it possible for many projects to see the light."
Prior to his death, Tuzzeo became a musical benchmark in the armaments town, directing the recording of demos and albums for both local musicians and groups, as well as those from other parts of the country. His work and the lasting impression he left on those who had the opportunity to record with him are the impetus behind this recognition, proposed by the Eibar artistic community itself.
“
"With this new name, we want future generations to know that there was someone here who dedicated his life to promoting local talent. Tuzzeo represents the best of a cultural tradition that we in Eibar have always defended: hard work, creativity, and commitment to the city."
For his part, Jon Iraola, the Mayor of Eibar, emphasized the symbolic nature of this renaming, highlighting Tuzzeo's dedication, creativity, and commitment to the city as fundamental pillars for fostering local talent.
