The sixth edition of the sports challenge organized by the La Roita group in Elgoibar will take place on July 4th, featuring a new mixed-team format.

What began in the summer of 2021 as a friendly bet between friends Iker Odria and Antxon De la Arada from the La Roita group, has evolved into an annual event blending sport and celebration. This year marks the sixth edition, and for the first time, the challenge will be contested by mixed teams of three people, with four teams competing.
Each team member will complete one of the three segments of the triathlon. The event starts in the port of Mutriku with a 600-meter swim (undertaken by the female participants of each team). Subsequently, the second members will cycle 18 kilometers between the port of Mutriku and Kalegoen plaza in Elgoibar, culminating in a 4.5-kilometer run with approximately 700 meters of elevation gain up to Karakate.

"The festive day, self-organized around their sporting challenge, is considered «a day for the group that the town of Elgoibar has joined»."

The event kicks off at 9:30 AM and will be broadcast live via streaming. Following the competition, participants and organizers will gather at Maala park for the awarding of the traditional 'txapela' (cap) and prizes. The day will continue with a popular communal meal at Sigma's probaleku, expecting around 600 young attendees, followed by a 'karropoteo' (bar crawl) and an evening party with concerts at the Gaztetxe.
Garazi Catalán, a team member, expresses a mix of excitement and nervousness for the challenge, while Ander Aranbarri, at 34 years old, is the most veteran competitor, approaching the event without pressure and drawing on his experience from previous editions.
