Juan Ramon Alberdi wins Ermua Hiria Literary Competition

The Azkoitia-based author triumphed in the Basque poetry category with his work 'Gogeten hari-muturrak', securing a 500 euro prize.

Juan Ramon Alberdi from Azkoitia has won the Basque poetry award in the 32nd edition of the Ermua Hiria Literary Competition for his work 'Gogeten hari-muturrak'.

Juan Ramon Alberdi, from Azkoitia, has been awarded the prize in the Basque poetry category at the 32nd edition of the Ermua Hiria literary competition for his work 'Gogeten hari-muturrak'. Consequently, he will receive a cash prize of 500 euros.
A total of fourteen poetry submissions in Basque were presented for this year's edition. The jury responsible for evaluating these works comprised Fernando Aranberri (Euskera technician at the Ermua City Council), Ainhoa Onaindia and Amaia Rementeria (teachers at IES Ermua BHI), and Sara Gago (Municipal Library employee).
The competition, organized by the Ermua City Council, awards narrative and poetry works in both Basque and Spanish, as was the case this year. A total of 214 stories (200 in Spanish and 14 in Basque) and 181 poetry works (167 in Spanish and 14 in Basque) were received.
