Ordizia is set to host the Sagitario A Fair this Saturday, an event specializing in science fiction, fantasy, and horror literature. The literary fair will take place in the Plaza Mayor and will be complemented by various activities for both children and adults.
The day will commence at 10:00 AM, aiming to introduce Basque authors to the public and promote reading. Approximately half a dozen publishing houses from these genres will be present, alongside representation from comics, a genre described as "on the rise".
Throughout the day, several events are scheduled, including drawing and craft workshops for children and young people, a mythology workshop, and a role-playing game available until 8:00 PM.
To showcase the participating authors, two podcast sessions with live interviews will be held. The first is at 1:00 PM, and in the afternoon, authors will engage in a roundtable discussion about their creations.
The event will conclude with the awards ceremony for the Second Micro-story Contest. Organizers have highlighted the high quality of the submitted works, and winners will read their micro-stories upon receiving their prizes.
The adult category of the contest has seen significant success, attracting international participants, while the youth category, in its inaugural edition, had a smaller turnout, though an increase is anticipated in future years.
This marks the third edition of the fair and the first to be held in Ordizia, following the previous two in Irun. The initiative originated from the collaboration between Luis Mari de Juan, Eneko Sanchez, and Roman Ugarte.
The organizers express gratitude to the Ordizia City Council for their support and aim for gradual growth, with the primary goal of promoting these three genres and attracting younger generations to literature.
