Jon Joseba Aizpurua wins Ermua Hiria Literary Contest's Basque Narrative Award

The Zumaia-based author receives the award for his work 'Elefante zuria', along with a 500 euro prize.

Jon Joseba Aizpurua from Zumaia has won the Basque narrative award at the 32nd Ermua Hiria Literary Contest for his work 'Elefante zuria', earning him a 500 euro prize.

Jon Joseba Aizpurua, from Zumaia, has received an award in the Basque narrative category at the 32nd edition of the Ermua Hiria Literary Contest. His submission, 'Elefante zuria', has been recognized with a 500 euro cash prize.
A total of fourteen poetry works in Basque were submitted for this year's competition. The jury responsible for evaluating these submissions comprised Fernando Aranberri (Ermua City Council's Basque language technician), Ainhoa Onaindia and Amaia Rementeria (teachers from IES Ermua BHI), and Sara Gago (Municipal Library staff).
The contest, organized by the Ermua City Council, honors narrative and poetry works in both Basque and Spanish. This year's edition received 214 narrative entries (200 in Spanish and 14 in Basque) and 181 poetry works (167 in Spanish and 14 in Basque).
