Elgoibar City Council launches the Gotzon Garate grant to promote novels in Basque

This fifth edition offers an 8,000 euro grant to new writers for the creation of a literary work.

Elgoibar City Council, in collaboration with Danobatgroup and Elkar publishing house, has launched the 5th Gotzon Garate grant, providing 8,000 euros to support new writers in creating a novel in Basque.

The municipality of Elgoibar, together with Danobatgroup and Elkar, has announced the fifth edition of the Gotzon Garate grant. This initiative aims to promote literary creation in the Basque language and pay tribute to the late local writer, philosopher, and linguist.
The call is open to anyone interested, regardless of age, provided they are emerging writers who have not published more than one book before July 30th, which is the deadline for submitting applications.
The selected individual will receive an 8,000 euro grant and will have a 12-month period to complete their original novel. During this time, they will receive literary mentorship under the supervision of Elgoibar City Council.
