The Foruen Plaza in Deba will transform into the epicenter for discussions on integral well-being on Thursday and Friday, as part of the 'Ongizatearen Plaza' initiative promoted by the Provincial Council. The event will address topics such as sustainable food, unwanted loneliness, the language-identity binomial, autonomy in aging, and screen usage, through talks, workshops, and round tables.
The general deputy of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, Eider Mendoza, emphasized that integral well-being is the Provincial Council's top priority. "We want to bring well-being to the center of the plaza," she stated, "because although it may seem like a personal or individual problem, it is a reality that affects us all and must be addressed from a collective and community perspective." She invited the residents of Deba to participate in this "open and innovative space that seeks to foster dialogue and reflection".
Thursday's activities will commence at 10:00 AM, led by Adinberri. An open physical exercise session, guided by fitness trainer Iñigo Vicens, will be followed by a cognitive stimulation workshop with Naia Ros and a mindfulness therapy session with Raquel Rodríguez. Later, from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM, "autonomy and prevention in aging" will be discussed, exploring approaches for older adults to live at home for as long as possible, emphasizing prevention and community ties.
In the afternoon, from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM, under the title 'How do we experience Euskera in Deba?', the influence of language on identity and personal well-being will be explored. Experiences from native speakers, adult learners, and newcomers will be shared.
Thursday's program will conclude with the dynamic session 'In the age of screens, healthy use,' in collaboration with the association Altxa Burua. Given its impact on children's emotional, social, and physical well-being, "it will be a dynamic session to promote responsible and healthy use of mobile phones and digital technologies, especially aimed at parents".
Friday's program will continue with new proposals. From 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM, the Foruen Plaza will host a talk on sustainable and healthy food featuring agroecology expert Jakoba Errekondo and local producers Mirian and Nerea Arrizabalaga (Doniene farmhouse) and Juan Mari Etxabe (Belisoro farmhouse) from Deba.
Following this, three micro-documentaries produced by Ados teatroa will be screened to reflect on unwanted loneliness, addressing real-life cases that also affect young people.
To conclude, starting at 5:00 PM, comedian Idoia Torregarai will lead a dynamic workshop to work on emotional well-being through laughter and humor. A practical risoterapia exercise will be conducted to release stress and face daily life with a positive outlook.
Finally, to close the event and strengthen community ties, a festive closing will feature a tasting of Txakoli from Getaria, guided by sommelier Telmo Iruretagoiena, and accompanied by the group Kalean Kantuz.
