For another year, the Eibar City Council has initiated a call for aid aimed at companies established in Eibar to hire unemployed individuals. This program is developed in collaboration with Lanbide-Basque Employment Service.
This year, the initiative is part of the Eibar Employment and Local Development Plan, with its municipal project designated as a pilot project by the Basque Government. This has allowed the bases to be adapted to priorities identified in the municipal diagnosis, strengthening support for groups facing greater employment insertion challenges.
The financial allocation for these grants in 2026 amounts to 209,518 euros, of which 149,518 euros come from Lanbide and the remaining 60,000 euros will be contributed by the City Council itself.
According to Mayor Jon Iraola, “generating employment does not solely depend on creating economic activity, but also on facilitating the translation of that activity into opportunities for people. With these grants, we aim to contribute precisely to that objective and facilitate new hirings in Eibar's companies.”
He also highlighted that “having a solid business fabric is one of Eibar's great strengths. From the City Council, we want to support our companies when they take the step of hiring and encourage these new opportunities to reach unemployed individuals in our municipality.”
To access the grants, the following requirements must be met: the hiring company must be a natural or legal person with its workplace and economic activity in Eibar. The hired person must be registered in Eibar since at least January 1, 2026, be unemployed, and be registered as a job seeker with Lanbide for at least the month prior to the contract's start. Furthermore, there must be no kinship up to the second degree with the employer or management staff. They also cannot be hired by a company if that hiring has already been subsidized in previous calls.
In all cases, contracts must comply with the corresponding collective agreement and represent a net increase in employment compared to the average workforce over the previous six months. No more than four contracts will be subsidized per beneficiary company.
The program includes permanent contracts, either full-time or with at least 50% part-time, requiring a minimum duration of twelve months and to be formalized as permanent contracts, starting within the year 2026.
Permanent contracts will receive a subsidy of 6,000 euros for full-time employment, with this amount decreasing based on the contracted working hours. The final aid amount cannot exceed 75% of the hired person's annual salary costs, including company social security contributions.
The aid can reach up to 12,000 euros if the hired person is a recipient of the RGI or IMV, is a long-term unemployed individual, or is over 45 years old. Additionally, if the hired individuals are women, the amount will increase by 20%.
The application period begins on September 21, 2026 (Monday) and will remain open until January 15, 2027. Applications must be submitted electronically through the municipal website (www.eibar.eus). The call's bases and required documentation can also be consulted on the same website.
