The Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council is set to renovate the lighting system at the Aranbizkarra football field using LED technology, aiming to boost the facility's energy efficiency and enhance the playing field's illumination standards. The Local Government Board approved the contract tender for the works this Friday, with a budget of 36,789 euros. The estimated completion period is 15 calendar days.
Currently, the field is equipped with 24 spotlights of 1,000 W, employing technology that consumes significant energy and requires substantial maintenance. The project plans to replace these with 24 LED luminaires, which are more efficient and offer a considerably longer lifespan.

A primary benefit of this upgrade will be energy savings. Calculations within the project estimate that the installed power could decrease from the current 24 kW to approximately 12.72 kW, signifying a reduction of at least 47% in electricity consumption.
The new installation will also improve the uniformity and quality of light on the pitch, reducing glare for athletes, spectators, and nearby residents. Furthermore, it must meet the requirements for a Class II field according to FIFA regulations and energy efficiency standards for outdoor lighting.
