The Eibar City Council has approved a call for subsidies to support property owners in improving building accessibility, including access to portals and facade renovations.

The Eibar City Council will allocate economic aid to improve the accessibility of buildings. Mayor Jon Iraola has approved a call for subsidies through which the Consistory seeks to support property owner communities that need to carry out works to enhance the accessibility conditions of their properties.
These grants aim to facilitate neighbor communities in undertaking actions that, in many cases, represent a significant investment and are crucial for eliminating architectural barriers and making buildings more accessible. Among the eligible actions are the improvement of access to building entrances (portals) and facade rehabilitation, thus contributing to bettering the conditions of the properties and their surroundings.
In a city like Eibar, where terrain characteristics and building layouts can hinder mobility, having adequate access is particularly important. These actions benefit the entire citizenry but have a direct impact on the daily lives of the elderly, individuals with reduced mobility, and families facing difficulties accessing their homes.
“

"Accessibility is fundamental for all people to be able to live in their homes and move around Eibar with the greatest possible autonomy. We want to help neighbor communities improve their buildings and remove barriers that hinder something as everyday as entering and leaving home."

Jon Iraola · Mayor of Eibar
Iraola also emphasized that improving building accessibility goes beyond the property owner communities themselves. "We are talking about quality of life, personal autonomy, and equal opportunities. We want people to be able to remain in their homes and navigate their environment with the fewest possible difficulties. Therefore, from the City Council, we must accompany and support the communities that wish to take these steps," he stated.
With this call, the City Council reaffirms its commitment to a more accessible and livable Eibar. "We continue working on a city project that puts people at the center and seeks to improve living conditions in our neighborhoods. Facilitating building accessibility is also a way to build a better Eibar for everyone," the mayor concluded.
