The PNV local group in Laudio has announced that they have managed to postpone the closure of Laudio Goikoa following a meeting with representatives from the Department of Education. The commitment obtained from the Basque Government includes "maintaining dialogue with the affected families and continuing to work this year to seek a consensual solution that minimizes the organizational and emotional impact of the process."
PNV members in Laudio have highlighted the "dialogue and institutional relationship work" undertaken in recent days. According to them, "the relationships established have served to directly convey the need to approach such decisions with planning, sensitivity, and institutional coordination, avoiding abrupt impacts on the educational community." Furthermore, they emphasized that the "priority" must be "guaranteeing educational quality, adequate attention to students, and the stability of the municipality's educational resources," especially in cases affecting students with specific support needs.
The PNV representatives have reiterated their willingness to "continue collaborating with the Department of Education and the municipality's educational community," as they believe the "key" is to "continue working in a coordinated manner in the coming months to find the best possible option for students and their families."
As previously indicated by PNV councilor Ander Larrinaga, they are in discussions with the Department of Education and are exploring "various alternatives," according to a statement from the Laudio City Council. The local institution explained that "so far, few details have been provided regarding the steps to be taken in the future of the educational center, and several aspects remain to be determined."
However, parents have not received detailed information. Yone Vaz, a parent representative, explained that "it was agreed in the meeting to postpone the closure because some improvements will be made at Laudio Goikoa," but "they have not called any meetings, and that is all we know." They are unaware of the specific improvements or the budget allocated. Vaz questioned, "How is it possible that a week ago two million euros were needed to put the building in proper condition, and now, suddenly, with some improvements, students can stay there for another year?"
