Initially, the organizers were pessimistic, fearing that the bad weather forecast would reduce participation from classic car owners. Members of the San Roke Racing Club told Aiaraldea Komunikabidea that many of these vehicles are convertibles, or owners prefer not to risk driving them in the rain. However, as Sunday morning progressed, the weather improved, and more participants than expected showed up.
Ultimately, the event held in Laudio's Aldai Square gathered over 60 classic vehicles. Club members highlighted the diversity of the cars, with “exotic brands” such as Triumph, Ponta, and Pontiac, as well as “special models from more well-known brands” like Mercedes, Toyota, and Porsche. The “classic protagonists” from companies such as Seat, Renault, and Montesa were also present.
There were all kinds of vehicles, from motorcycles to the gigantic American Peterbilt truck, which attracted the most attention from the public.
The event lasted until 13:30, at which time awards were presented with the collaboration of Mayor Ainize Gastaka. Prizes were given to the participant who traveled the furthest, the oldest car, and the oldest motorcycle. Additionally, raffles were held for vouchers for cleaning and detailing services, courtesy of specialists from Retromobile in Erandio.
The organizers expressed gratitude for the support from the city council and sponsors, as well as the collaboration from other clubs, such as the Basque Classic Club, whose vehicles were “very welcome” at the gathering. Members of the San Roke Racing Club also took the opportunity to inform attendees about their activities.
