The Ertzaintza is investigating as a possible homicide the death of a 47-year-old man found with signs of violence in his Mundaka home.

A resident of Mundaka, aged 47, has been found dead in his home with apparent signs of violence. The Ertzaintza is investigating the case as a possible homicide, and it is believed that the death occurred several days ago, likely on the night of last Thursday, when some neighbors heard strange noises coming from the apartment.
The body was discovered on Sunday afternoon. The apartment is located in an alleyway in the town center. Neighbors initially paid no mind to the unusual sounds, but after days without seeing the man, they began to suspect something was wrong. "It seemed strange because he always had the small window open, even at night. A sixth sense told me something had happened," explained one resident.
The man lived alone and had a pet cat. The body showed at least one hematoma on the head and various marks on the legs, according to initial findings and autopsy results. It is suspected that these injuries were caused by blows, prompting the investigation into the circumstances of the death.
Agents from the homicide unit of the Bizkaia Territorial Criminal Investigation Service (SICTB) traveled to Mundaka to lead the investigation. They have interviewed neighbors and individuals who were with the deceased in his final hours. Forensic specialists have searched the apartment for evidence.
Neighbors have stated that the victim did not cause "trouble or scandals." However, they reported hearing "blows and noises like furniture being dragged until very late" on Thursday, "even at three in the morning." The man woke up early for work and did not socialize much in Mundaka, as most of his friends were from nearby towns.
