This initiative, which blends music and leisure, is the result of a collaboration between the Bizkaia Provincial Council, the Señeak association, and Lauaxeta Ikastola. The participants are young musicians from various towns across Bizkaia, including Elorrio, Lekeitio, Gernika, Zornotza, Bilbao, Berriz, Lemoa, Usansolo, Sopela, Otxandio, Mungia, and Getxo. Their roles include guitarists, singers, keyboardists, drummers, and bassists.
Despite receiving more applications than last year, the organizers decided to maintain the limit of 22 participants to “guarantee the quality of the stay,” as explained by the officials from the Señeak association.
“"In Bizkaia, musical passion and talent are alive; we increasingly have more demand and a higher level. This campus aims to show young people firsthand the benefits and opportunities that music offers."
Meanwhile, the Deputy for Basque Language, Culture, and Sports, Leixuri Arrizabalaga, highlighted that last year’s experience received a “very positive” evaluation. “The excellent reception from young people, teachers, and parents demonstrated the success of the initiative. This year, our goal has been to maintain that essence, but adding innovations to make the experience even richer,” she added.
The residency will conclude on Friday, April 10, with a special concert at the Zornotza Aretoa, thanks to the support of the Amorebieta-Etxano City Council. There, the young musicians will showcase everything they have learned throughout the week alongside their instructors, demonstrating their creativity and teamwork.
