The Emergency Service of Osakidetza attended to 25 people by 7 PM this Monday as a result of the high temperatures recorded in the Basque Country.

All cases, aged between 14 and 87, were mild; seven were treated on-site and discharged, while 18 were transported by ambulance to a hospital for follow-up.
As reported by the Basque Security Department, by territory, 15 cases were registered in Gipuzkoa, nine in Bizkaia, and one in Araba.
The Department of Health of the Basque Government reiterated the importance of following the recommendations outlined in the Heat Plan 2026. The plan aims to prevent and reduce the health impact of excessive temperatures during the hottest months, with a focus on vulnerable groups.
The plan pays special attention to at-risk populations: children under four, the elderly, pregnant women, individuals with chronic illnesses, and those engaging in outdoor physical activity.
It also recommends frequent contact with elderly individuals living alone and advises against leaving anyone inside a parked, closed vehicle, particularly during the central hours of the day.
