Santurtzi Mayor Itziar Carrocera, from the PNV party, has promised complete transparency in the investigation concerning the alleged leak of the Municipal Police exam, stating that her party will provide all necessary explanations to the committee.

Itziar Carrocera, the new mayor of Santurtzi, took office a month ago, following the resignation of her predecessor, Karmele Tubilla, amidst controversy over the alleged leak of a police exam. This case led to the removal of the former Security councilor. Leading a minority government, Carrocera aims to mend relations with the opposition, which have been strained throughout this term, to secure crucial agreements such as the Budget, which has been extended since 2024.
Carrocera indicated that the PNV has referred the case to the Prosecutor's Office, which has accepted the complaint for processing, after discovering contradictions between the former councilor's version and technical reports. The mayor emphasized that the goal is to "provide all tools to clarify this matter, and if there is any responsibility, to take appropriate measures."

Whoever has committed an illegality will have to provide answers and pay for it.

The committee investigating this case is ongoing, and the government team is scheduled to testify in the next session. Carrocera expressed confidence, stating that "we have nothing to hide." She added, "We will provide all explanations required with absolute transparency."
The mayor acknowledged inheriting a political climate of unprecedented tension in the City Council but committed to concluding this legislative term in the best possible way, as the people of Santurtzi deserve. To this end, she is seeking dialogue and agreements with the opposition, having already completed a first round of meetings to negotiate the Budget.
Furthermore, Carrocera highlighted that Santurtzi's main challenges are cleanliness and parking. Cleaning services have been reinforced, and new parking spaces have been created, such as in the new Port park and on the Reina Victoria promenade. Additionally, in collaboration with Adif, another 70 spaces will be made available in front of the sports center, some for people with reduced mobility, expected to be a reality by the end of the year.
The mayor also spoke out against the implementation of Sader in the Port, stating that they will "exhaust all avenues." Similarly, she defended the continuation of the works for the Southern Railway Bypass to protect Santurtzi's interests and eliminate the railway yard that has characterized the municipality.
